The first two shots set the tone
Jannik Sinners improvement is often described through speed and accuracy, but his point construction deserves equal attention. The serve plus one pattern became more disciplined.
Defense no longer looked like survival
When pulled wide, Sinner increasingly turned defense into a neutral ball rather than a desperate reset. Opponents had to hit one more quality shot, and under scoreboard pressure that extra shot can feel heavier than it looks.
The backhand held the court still
The two-handed backhand gave him a safe line through pressure. It reduced the number of short replies and helped him recover court position without gambling.
A champion with fewer loose phases
The modern mens game punishes even short lapses. Sinners rise came from trimming those lapses down and keeping points on his preferred terms for longer.
